For custom and made to order goods, 50% deposit is required to place order, and the 50% balance is due when goods are complete and shipped from the mill.
Inspection of Goods– Harcourt goods are carefully inspected and photographed prior to shipping, undergoing a multi-stage inspection process to ensure any irregularities fall within manufacturing tolerances and accepted industry standards. However, the final inspection is the client’s responsibility. Upon receipt, customers should open the shipment and verify that the quantity, color, and design are accurate and match the order. The correct design and color should be confirmed again before the product is cut by the installer. Any claims regarding orders must be submitted to Harcourt, and a final decision must be reached before delivering or installing any carpet or rugs. Failure to follow the claims process may result in the loss of financial compensation, regardless of the validity of the claim.
Delivery – Upon delivery, it is the customers sole responsibility to check shipment for any damage to the package, crate, or the interior contents, and any obvious damage should be noted on the packing receipt sent with the shipment. Any shipping claims pertinent to Harcourt will only be accepted and reviewed within a 30 days’ time period after receipt of goods. All wrappings must be retained and photographed while claim is examined and reviewed.

Installation – We recommend conventional tack and pad Installation over a firm dense pad, such as synthetic felt. When installing, do not power stretch any handmade product. No claims will be considered on carpet that is installed with flaws, visible defects, or installed with a mismatch. It is the responsibility of the installer, architect, or designer to inspect carpet prior to installation. We are not responsible for any improper installations. No installation services are included in an order unless specifically noted.
Seams – Handmade products can slightly vary with dimension, repeat, or pattern. Matching seams may be challenging, but attainable. Seams may require trimming as this is a normal and expected solution. Seams are necessary and are visible to varying extents based on the design and texture of the carpet. Visible seams are normal, even when seaming is done well. Some patterns, especially flat woven patterns, are more challenging to seam and may be more visible.
Stair Installation – We do not warranty carpet on stair installations, and we will not entertain any claims on such installations. Purchasing an additional carpet for future installation is recommended.
Storage – Any carpet not accepted for delivery within (30) days after notification is subject to a minimum storage fee of $50.00 or higher, dependent upon size of goods.
Variations in handloomed and Woven Carpets. – When dealing with handmade products, pattern, repeat, and dimensions may vary slightly within industry standards.
Yarn Variation – Yarns such as berber and heathered yarns are spun in a manner to create striations and flecks of color. The resulting random coloring is inherent to the wool and does not represent a defect in the yarn.
Streaking – Depending on pattern and color, yarns produced from wool fibers may sometimes appear to streak in the face of the carpet. To an overwhelming degree, this is due to the fact that wool is a natural fiber and being such, must be allowed greater tolerance than those of synthetic yarns.
Striation – For Stria carpets, the yarn striation is part of the beauty of the design. Striation may vary from roll to roll, and may vary from the sales samples. Lines formed by the design are not considered a defect.
Color Variation -Due to variations in dye lot, carpet colors may vary slightly. If shade is critical, we recommend a cutting for approval. (CFA)
Shading, also referred to as watermarking, roll crush, or reverse pile, can occur on all handmade materials, which is an inherent effect on the product. There is no method of prevention, and therefore is not considered a manufacturing defect. As a result, claims will not be considered for this condition. Normal foot traffic, and frequent, thorough vacuuming should improve this condition.
Shedding Is a natural characteristic of all wool and wool blend carpets. Loose bits of natural fiber may appear on the carpet surface and can be removed with gentle vacuuming. Improper maintenance, dragging objects, or overly aggressive vacuum methods can distort pile and cause excessive fuzzing.
Sprouts – It is inherent with fine woven carpets to have some variances in the surface texture. Even when the tuftbind meets the criteria set forth by industry standards, woven loop pile carpets will occasionally sprout. This is not considered a defect, and can be easily serviced by clipping the sprouts. Suction Only Vacuuming is recommended to prevent pulls and snags. There are no written or inferred guarantees for pulls and snags.
Sisal & Natural Fiber Products – When floor covering is woven from natural plant materials, irregularities are expected, inherent, and add character to the rug. Knots, color variations, and mis-weaves are some of the natural qualities that are innate to the integrity of the floor covering.
Cleaning: Please be advised that we cannot guarantee the successful cleaning of your rug, and any attempt to do so will be at your client’s risk. While we can provide guidance and recommendations, the ultimate responsibility for the outcome of the cleaning process lies with the individual performing the cleaning. We would strongly suggest caution and careful consideration before proceeding with any cleaning activities on your own. It is Highly Recommended to call in a professional cleaner to assess any cleaning needs.
